The ANF ACT Branch Council may provide a specific purpose grant for a member to attend a seminar, conference, or workshop, relevant to either nursing and/or midwifery. Members of the ANF ACT Branch may apply for a grant according to the following guidelines.

Eligibility

Current financial membership of at least 12 months with the ACT Branch.

The application is required to:

• Be in writing addressed to the Branch Secretary
• Give details of the applicant’s qualifications, work area, position and length of service
• Give a detailed description of the purpose for which the grant is requested
• Include a copy of the program
• Specify whether assistance is required in regard to the registration fee, travel allowance and/or accommodation expenses
• Give details of any other relevant financial assistance obtained by the applicant for this particular program
• Be received by the ACT Branch Office Manager before the 1st Monday of every month and at least one(1) month before the program’s commencement date
• Be accompanied by a list of previous conferences attended and funding sources

The Branch Council is responsible for selection and their decision is final. Each applicant will be considered on individual merit, taking into account the following:

• Past and current commitment to the ACT Branch
• Relevant professional qualifications
• Relevance to the course, seminar conference or workshop[, to the member’s specific employment and interests
• Any previous financial grants received from the ACT Branch. Grants will not be provided for a member to undertake any activity connected with commercial gain, or for any commercially sponsored or externally funded projects.

The total amount of money given in a grant to a member will not exceed the budgeted amount as determined by the Branch Council.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a written report to Branch council within 2 months of completing the course, seminar, conference or workshop.
